Survival Guide Dust Settles (SGDS)
is a turn-based, monthly-round, strategy where you play as a survivor of the apocalypse. You will lead the few people you make it through with to gather more survivors and begin rebuilding civilization, your way. From daily exploration and living in tents to building nukes and satellite guided missiles, you will lead your camp against others as you compete for military, technological, and economic superiority. The game is free and browser-based, requiring only a few seconds to signup and start playing.
This game features a uniquely intricate battle system and a 3-Path win condition. There are four character classes, which radically affect your gameplay. Due to advantages and disadvantages of each class, you are made to interact with other players and make use of a complex trade market that persists into other games within this same storyline universe (SG-Universe.com). There are 3 paths to choose from, which are chosen by action and strategy, not simply an option where you choose from the start. You may compete for wins with economy, military, or nuclear technology. Any of the three give you equal chance to ascend to the top rank. You must simply choose as the game progresses.
After 30 days of gameplay (which amounts to 4260 days in the game), tensions between the camps of surviving men and women grow so tense, that the proverbial "button" is pressed once again... the storyline connector to explain game reset.
(SGDS also incorporates a simple, top-down puzzle mini-game Survival Guide Explorers. This flash game allows you to still affect your account while you have no turns scored and is connected to SGDS to credit you with resources and survivors found there.)
You survived the apocalypse, and within days, were incorporated into a camp of other survivors... only about 4 miles from where you awoke. Through the past months, you have helped explore, garden, and generally manage daily camp activities. Your life took on a "need" to survive after you awoke... and freedoms of opinion, speech, or even thought were ignored. There wasn't enough time to stop and see what was really happening....
For the first time since you were pulled from the wreckage, you begin to focus on thoughts other than the activity at hand. The barrel of your rifle seems heavier than ever before, and the weight of the lives you have been ordered to take weigh even heavier.... you sit in a rifle line with 49 other men and women under your command. Two hundred and fifty soldiers armed with pistols and makeshift swords have just put their first foot forward in a charge to meet an opposing camp's army just 300 meters away....
Now you must choose, drop arms and find your own way, or shake off the inefficient feelings of individuality and close your rifle's chamber...
No matter which you choose, you're faced with incredible tensions between surviving populations... and you either make it your mission to have averted the disaster that everyone foresees or you make sure that it is you who pushes the button.
The game is a persistant, real time, Windows/Linux/Mac downloadable application. A detailed manual is provide for those who wish to purchase an actual CD copy from the PGS store. Not only does this game feature a new and once again uniquely powerful battle system, it also features a real time interface that manages to carry with it the benefits of a MUD's detailed information, a real-time MMORPG's action and interaction, and a strategy-heavy RPG's decision making and player development. Truly a treat and a new step forward for PGS and the survivors of the SG Universe apocalyptic storyline. (in development)
