Purpose:

Recycling plants are by far one of the most important buildings you will open in the course of this game. This building will allow you to produce your own disposables, a highly used resource. Opening recycling plants is considered to be one of the first turning points of the game. At this point you move from bare survival to actually beginning to truly rebuild civilization.

Once you have opened recycling plants, your life will be a great deal easier. With only four people staffed per building, you will be able to produce a minimum of 16 disposables each day. This will give you the ability to provide your own disposables for your gardens, labs, and any other building you may have that uses disposables. Instead of having to rely on constant exploration missions to find enough disposables to keep things running, you will be able to produce enough to at least supplement what you find, thus allowing you to devote your people and energies to other tasks.

Once you have met the opening requirements for this building, you will be able to erect recycling plants through the Construct page.

Opening Requirements:

This should be one of the first building you open through research. You will need to research both Architecture and Recycling to at least 10 in order to open this building for construction.

Improvements:

By researching Recycler Prospecting, you can increase the output of each individual plant.

Limitations:

Your only limitation for recycling plants will be the initial land and supplies requirements as well as the daily staffing costs. There are no daily resource costs, so as long as you have the land, initial supplies, and people to staff them, you can build as many recycling plants as you want/need.

Displays:

The Peoples page will have your most important display for this building. Here you will be able to see your camp's disposable use as compared to how many you are producing each turn. This will help you judge when you need to build more.

The Construct screen will allow you to change how many recycling plants you currently have active. You will also be able to see how many you have total and how many people are working in your plants.

Special Considerations When Demolishing:

Since so many buildings need disposables to run, including laboratories, shelter level 3s, gardens, fuel refineries, and more, you will want to seriously consider whether you actually want to demolish your plants and how many you want to demolish. Obviously, when you can build farms, swapping from gardens to farms would free up a number of disposables as excess. These can be useful, either for other buildings or for trade through the Neutral Exchange Camp for CEPs.
