Survival Guide - Dust Settles: Air Defense
In order to keep your camp from being devastated by a bombing
run, you will need to keep a fair amount of defenses ready to keep an attack
from razing your camp. Since bombers can hit numerous targets in your camp including
barracks, lots,
and factories, you will want to keep plenty
of fighters, antiaircraft
guns, and SAM sites to take out the attacking forces. One of the first things that you should keep around your camp to help combat
both the attacking bombers and their fighter
escorts (if any are sent) are fighters. These planes will be kept in hangars
during most days, but when your camp is attacked, they will automatically scramble
to take on the oncoming planes. The only requirement for the launching of these
planes is their crew requirement. As many fighters as you have the army
to fill will launch. Because fighters may not be enough to
fend off an attack, you should consider opening and building antiaircraft
guns and SAM sites. These militia-manned weapons will be opened through
Ingenuity research and constructed through
the Defense page. As soon as a bombing
run reaches your camp, your militia will
run to fill the crew requirements for these weapons and will begin peppering
the sky with flak and missiles to bring down the attacking bombers. Your defensive
structures will activate according to how many you can crew, with SAMs being
filled before AA if you do not have enough for all of them. |
