Volume Two - Witch Hunt
A note to the reader:
I’ve never seen you before, but I used to be like you. I lived a normal life. Content and blithely unaware. Now, everything’s gone.
The veil has been lifted, and a world too dark for comprehension lies beyond. Don’t mind what the university bio tells you about Dr. Camilia Worthing.
I have degrees that speak only of literary research. I may have a Ph.d.
I may know the legends, but I don’t understand this.
I don’t know these creatures. How many? What kinds? Their natures? Their weaknesses? Or even how they could exist in the first place? I just don’t know. But I suspect, with a belief that I cannot rationalize, that we’ve barely scratched the surface during our struggles with Vincent.
There must be so much more, but I can’t face it. I can hardly face what I’ve already lost because of it.
Am I curious? Sure. Like my father, I’m still a scholar down to my finger tips.
But what good is the truth, if I’m dead?
So I’m leaving. Getting out of Atlanta for good. Two months and I’ll be safely away to New York. No more monsters.
No more blood wars. Two months. It’s not that long. I can survive that much surely ...
